CHARACTER
Name: Mirai Kaname
Canon: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Chilren
Age: 20 / appears ~13
Timeline: Post-White Book
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: Mirai is normally a very social, loving person. She makes friends easily, she talks to strangers in the towns of Makai and helps people she's just met with their problems. Her love for her family is strong - she chases single-mindedly after a stranger who stole her memento of her mother, and she's willing to travel into a strange land with demons who she knows will attack her in order to find her father whom she's never met.

That said, she also has a temper. She doesn't tolerate stupidity or people getting in the way of something important (she yells at a guy trying to hit on her when she's chasing someone down), doesn't trust clearly suspicious people even if she has to go along with them (Zett and Azazel being two prominent examples), and has a high sense of morals that will make her blow up at people doing evil (the attacks on Earth and Marble Land get her majorly pissed off). She's not one for friendship speeches so much as yelling at villains followed by kicking their asses. NPCs alternate calling her eyes 'beautiful' and 'scary', a pretty good summation of how she acts.

While she originally was a bit taken aback by finding out that her father is a demon, even saying that she might not have come to Makai searching for him if she'd known, she grows to understand that demons aren't all that bad and accept herself as a Devil Child. Despite the bad things demons have done, she won't side with angels just because they're supposedly the good guys. She chooses to decide based on their actual actions.

Mirai's first and foremost philosophy is that nobody tells her what to do. She makes her own decisions, and she likes to be informed about them before she makes them instead of just blindly following someone else's instructions, be they demons or angels.

She loves her Papa Lucifer very much and will mess you up if you mess with him, if he doesn't do it first. Her love for her family and her good morals are probably her biggest emotional strength.

On the other hand, she will say exactly what she thinks about you even in situations where she should hold her tongue. She can negotiate for things she wants or needs, but doesn't believe in reigning in her behavior for anyone else's sake, even when that will get her in trouble. Lucifer would be proud.

Background: Mirai's life was fairly normal - dead mother she didn't remember, missing father who she kept having weird dreams of, and apocalyptic wars and cults going on in the world around her aside, she went to school and had many friends like any normal preteen girl.

One day, she received a mysterious package, which someone immediately tried to steal from her. When she defended herself and chased after him to retrieve her mother's memento, he turned into a demon and attacked. Mirai used the item in the package - a gun-like object used for summoning demons - and called Veil, her Griffon partner for the first time to defeat him.

From there, a strange boy named Zett told her that he knew where she could find her father. Mirai agreed to look for her father in Makai, the land of demons.

In order to continue journeying throughout Makai, Mirai agreed to a request from the Demon Lord, to defeat the other Devil Child who was supposedly trying to destroy the world. This turned out to be false: Setsuna, her next-door neighbor, was also a Devil Child, searching through Makai for his little brother who had been kidnapped. The Demon Lord actually wanted to use demons to invade Earth in order to rule it.

Mirai learned that her father is the Demon Lord Lucifer, and that the one she'd spoken to is Azazel, who has been impersonating him. She returned to his palace in order to defeat Azazel and free her father.

While they had been traveling, Setsuna had been gathering Horns of the Messiah, and Mirai Eyes of the Messiah. Combined, these two created keys in order to decide the fate of the world. Fighting against angels and Setsuna's brother who wanted to use them to destroy the world, Mirai was able to fix the world that had been on the verge of apocalypse.

Ten years passed. Mirai spent some of her time in Makai with her father and some of her time on Earth with her half-brother Setsuna.

A human child given the power of demons (thus, also a Devil Child, though not through the same method as Mirai) named Masaki began journeying through Makai in order to free his friend from a cursed sleep. In the process of trying to find that Devil Child, demons attacked Setsuna and Mirai and brought them into the conflict. Mirai and Setsuna searched through Makai, finding information about the plans of angels to take over Makai and Earth, and helped Masaki where they could, though ultimately he was the one who could defeat Raguel and the God of the Wicked. (Since he's the protagonist of this game and all.)

Abilities: Besides being stronger and more resilient than a regular human of her age would be, Mirai's main abilities involve being able to contract with and summon demons. She's been able to contract with some extremely powerful demons using her DeviRiser and KingRiser. She can summon up to three demons at once - her partner Veil and one demon from each summoning-gun-object.

First Person: [Mirai is never quite settled in places of pure peace. Makai calls out to her for this reason - there is always something to do for a slight thrill.

Ruby City is not completely safe, but close enough that she can live there without fear of death. She would rather be at home, or in Makai, of course, but without the opportunity to return at this moment, she makes do with what she can.

The city is safe enough, which is why now and again Mirai turns towards the forest. She needs to pass the days by somehow, and why not with a little exploration? And if monsters appear - even better.]

Come out, come out, wherever you are...

[She comes deeper into the forest, DeviRiser at the ready.]

Third Person: Mirai has often had to deal with the consequences of her age not matching her appearance. Her papa Lucifer said it was supposedly typical for Devil Children. Since there hadn't been Devil Children in literal ages before her and Setsuna, it was hard to be sure.

That was a reason Makai was better than Earth. Earth was more peaceful, but it was hard to be taken seriously when she looked like a teenager. More importantly, it was a constant worry that people would notice she had looked the same for ten years straight. She and Setsuna had to do a lot of moving around to avoid suspicion growing.

Even in places that they were safe in, she still couldn't get a decent drink of alcohol. Thankfully, her papa was willing to let her have some of his collection. Lucifer had the finest wines available in Makai and Earth, so why should she bother to struggle anywhere else to get a simple drink?
